Magoebaskloof Pelton
Micro Hydro Power Solution for Magoebaskloof Farm
WD Power is proud to announce the completion and installation of another 5 kW micro hydro Pelton turbine system in Magoebaskloof. This system is an ideal solution for the farm owner, who benefits from a consistent supply of high-pressure water throughout the year.
The farm owner has completed the necessary infrastructure and will oversee the installation. The turbine, tested in WD Power’s facility, will be connected to the farm’s existing micro grid. It is designed to generate 5 kW with a 110m head and a flow rate of just over 5 l/s. Additionally, the turbine can be easily reconfigured to operate at an 80m pressure, producing 3 kW at 6 l/s.
The WD micro hydro control panel ensures reliable automation, starting and stopping the turbine based on battery state of charge setpoints. The user interface provides remote access and control, while the controller maintains stable voltage. Power is generated using an induction generator and rectified to DC for connection to the MPPT input.
WD Power has successfully standardized the micro turbine design, allowing for quick turnaround times in manufacturing new units.
