Off-crop Maintenance Started
Royal Swazi Sugar Corporation ( RSSC ) has stopped for the annual Off-Crop maintenance program. WD Power will again be involved in the power station turbo alternators, with orders to do work on the two Allen turbo alternators as well as the Siemens set. These turbo alternator sets form the heart of the plant as the mill is generating their own power for the plant operation. In addition to the power station, we have this year also been contracted to supply spares and perform maintenance tasks on the mill auxiliary turbines.
An experienced team will be on site to ensure that our commissioning procedures, as refined over the years, are followed to return all the units to service in time for the start of the productions season. The scope of work covers the scheduled replacement of worn components, setting of all turbine control systems and final alignment. Once all quality steps and hold points are signed off, the team will continue with cold commissioning before steam is introduced for the hot commissioning. During commissioning all systems will be individually tested and signed off before load is introduced.
Production is normally resumed around Easter and it is critical for the client that maintenance activities are properly planned and completed in time. WD Power head office is continually monitoring the activities and progress on and off site to keep the client informed and ensure the target dates are met.
