WD Power have successfully refurbished Group 1 at Mavuzi HEPP for EDM

WD Power were contracted by EDM to repair Group 1 set at Mavuzi HEPP after experiencing a failure during operations in July 2023. The repair works consisted of a full Runner repair, labyrinth seal sets and bearing refurbishments, including site assembly and recommissioning. The runner repair was critical in the sense of full quality control and precision re-engineering principals were adhered to ensuring all hydrodynamic profiles were respected as per the OEM design to achieve a highly efficient operational component was returned to service upon completion.

WD Power worked closely together with the skilled personnel from EDM throughout the project to ensure a smooth outcome was achieved.

The unit was placed back into operation May 2024.
