Factory Acceptance Test on Francis turbine
WD Power recently completed the fabrication of a small Frances turbine for our hydro turbine partners Hydro Power Plant (HPP). HPP did the turbine design for their client and WD Power manufactured most of the mechanical components prior to assembly in our workshop. Critical components required to complete the local assembly were imported from Europe.
This Horizontal Francis is our smallest project with HPP to date. The runner diameter was only 300 mm and machined from a solid forging. Net head is 54m, flow 0.3 m^3/s with an output of 130kW.
HPP staff and their client visited our workshop to complete the training and factory acceptances tests (FAT). The project kick-off was in March 2015 and FAT was completed on schedule in August 2015. Installation will be the responsibility of the client, which will be simplified by the skid mounted design.
