Francis turbines for Cameroon completed

WD Power recently completed yet another successful FAT test of two Francis turbines. These turbines were manufactured and assembled in our Boksburg facility, where the recent factory acceptance test (FAT) was performed by the client. As with all our Hydro work, it is done directly for our French partners, Hydro Power Plant (HPP). On this project the final site is in Rumpi, Cameroon. Two units were manufactured capable to generate 1450 kW each. This is achieved with a flow of 3.5 m³/s flow and a head of 48 m. Apart from the mechanical components as supplied by WD Power, HPP provided a turnkey project to the client.

The on-time and on-budget completion of these Francis turbines is yet another demonstration that the manufacturing capabilities is strong in South Africa and we provide a real advantage to our French partners to compete as a hydro turbine supplier.
