Hydro Turbine 1185 completed

WD Power just completed project 1185 for our French partners, HPP. This skid mounted hydro turbine, was a single stage horizontal Francis turbine. The turbine was manufactured and assembled in South Africa and the customer took delivery of the turbine following a successful factory acceptance test (FAT). HPP also provided the training to the client on completion of the FAT. This is another example of a competitive product that can be delivered between HPP and WD Power.

Similar to earlier projects, this turbine was designed by the French HPP team for their customer. On completion of the design, the drawings were provided to WD Power to manufacture and assemble the turbine in South Africa. The Auxiliary components were sourced in Europe and shipped to South Africa. The runner machining was also done in Europe due to the specialised runner manufacturing process. The runner if fully CNC machined from a forging as it gives the client a superior product compared to the traditional casted runners.

WD Power completed the manufacturing and assembly ahead of schedule, which was important to the customer. The FAT was achieved roughly one month earlier than originally planned. The experienced gained on earlier projects with HPP enabled us to complete the project in good time and deliver a high quality product.
